Presentation of the Book "Don't Mark Us Absent" (Մեզ բացակա չդնեք...) at RAU
Dedicated to the memory of students who lost their lives during the military operations of 2020–2023.
On May 14, the Russian-Armenian University hosted the presentation of the book Մեզ բացակա չդնեք (Don't Mark Us Absent), dedicated to the memory of students who lost their lives during the military operations of 2020–2023.
The event began with a flower-laying ceremony at the monument on campus, erected in honor of the heroically fallen students. Faculty, staff, students, and guests of the university observed a moment of silence to pay tribute to their memory.

“These young people were not only defenders of their country, but also our students, our friends, our sons. We are obliged to preserve their memory — not just as symbols, but as real people with dreams, plans, and destinies.”
The book is a collection of biographical essays, letters, and memories of RAU students who perished during the recent military conflicts. It was created by a team of university faculty members and editors, including Professor Azat Yeghiazaryan.
“Each story in this book is more than just text. It is the voice of a person we will no longer hear, but whose sacrifice speaks for them. We tried to preserve a personal, human dimension in every line,” he noted.
Head of the Department of Armenian Language and Literature, Gayane Gevorgyan, added that the book fulfills an important mission — connecting generations through remembrance.
The words of the parents of the fallen students added a deeply emotional note to the event. They thanked the university for preserving the memory of their sons and for the thoughtful, dedicated work that went into creating the book: “It matters to us to know that the heroism of our children is not forgotten. Thank you to the university for your attention, your respect, and for doing everything possible to keep their memory alive.”
The presentation took place in the auditorium named after Leonid Azgaldyan and became a meaningful event not only in the academic, but also in the public life of the university, serving as a reminder that true remembrance is expressed through actions and respect for the past.
