Issues of macroeconomic regulation during the pandemic were discussed at RAU

    The round table brought together leading scientists, experts, and specialists in this field.

    On October 29, an online round table "Problems of macroeconomic regulation during a pandemic" was held. 

    Professor Armen Darbinyan, RAU Rector, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Corresponding Member NAS RA, Doctor of Economics, welcomed the participants of the videoconference emphasizing the importance and relevance of the chosen topic. 

    The round table brought together leading scientists, experts, and specialists in this field, including employees of Institute of Economics of Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of National Economic Forecasting of Russian Academy of Sciences, Financial University under the Government of Russian Federation, Institute of Economics and Industrial Production Organization of the Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Armenia, Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, Institute of Economics and Business of RAU and many others.

    "As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, states all across the globe  have faced radically new challenges in economy, overcoming which requires a revision of existing and the development of new approaches to macroeconomic regulation," - said Irina Petrosyan, Head of the Department of Economic Theory and Problems of the Economy of the Transition Period of RAU.

    During the round table, speakers and guests discussed the monetary policy of many countries during the pandemic, approaches to the radical reform of direct taxation, new risks for financial regulators, the potential of a socially-oriented economic policy, the impact of high transfer dependence of the RA economy on the economic downturn, trends in banking regulation during the pandemic, etc.
